Who am I?
My Name is Melissa Walsh. I have a Bachelor of Health Science – Naturopathy and a Masters of Nutrition by Research. I love nothing more than helping people achieve their health or fitness goals.
I am a mother to 3 beautiful boys who are very energetic and cheeky! I have helped shape and grown Urban Muaythai for the past 10 years with my husband, mentor and head trainer Richie.
Growing up I competed at a high level as a junior triathlete, where I was lucky enough to frequently travel Australia and the World competing from the age of 14-20 years. I was fortunate to make many Queensland teams and hit the pinnacle in 1999 by Representing Australia at the World Championships in Montreal. I then found myself boxing to cross train for an edge in triathlons, this lead me to my first muaythai gym and I fell hook line and sinker for the sport and never looked back!
Muaythai then consumed my life from 20-27 years old, in this time I Won the QLD, Australian and South Pacific Titles. I Won the World IFMA Championships in 2003 and after my first born child I made a come back to muaythai and Won the Silver medal at the World IFMA Championships in 2012.
During these times nutrition was highly important, it not only provided energy, helped me recover faster but also kept me on weight for the 25 muaythai fights that I had. I have experienced and seen first hand how herbal medicine, nutritional medicine, homeopathy and Chinese medicine work, often faster than traditional medicine. I truely believe that prevention is better than cure.
