It was another busy weekend for Urban’s Head Fight Trainer, Blair Chave, with 3 fighters competing on Saturday and Sunday. Matt Plummer and Kyl Juler fought on the Gold Coast at Elite, and Josh King fought in Beenleigh at the Siam Cup.

Here’s a quick recap from Blair about the weekend:

It was a great weekend of fights; Matt fought a strong opponent, but he pushed forward the whole fight. He lost closely on points, with his opponent’s strong kicks just outscoring him from the oustside. Matt showed great hands and an excellent work-rate throughout the fight.

Kyl fought a dangerous opponent in Josh Torrens for a QLD MTA Junior Title, but despite the pressure, he was calm and composed. He waited for the right time to pick his shot and when he let it go he did it with precision and power, finishing with a first round knockout to become the new QLD State Champion.

On Sunday, Josh fought a technically excellent fight. He was in control every round; he fought smart and aggressive. Using great evasion, and countering with solid kicks and punches, he came away with a unanimous decision win.

Overall, it was a great weekend of fights for the Urban Team, and we had an impressive show of support from the gym family on the Gold Coast.

Thank you to everyone who came out to support the fighters and, as always, thank you to our Fight Team, trainers and students alike for making this a weekend that we won’t soon forget.
