Eruption and Siam Cup Fight Update

What a crazy year for the Urban Fight Team! We’ve got one show left in 2018; Whitney fights tonight on the Sunshine Coast to make a total of 55 fights for the team this year!!

Last weekend, we had 4 of the Urban Fight Team competing – Nick fought Saturday night on Eruption, one of the best Professional promotions in Queensland, and Kaelyn, Scotty and Josh all fought at Siam Cup on Sunday.

Nick, one of our newest team members, has had an amazing year, with 6 fights for Urban, 6 wins, 3 by Knockout. He faced a very tough opponent in Jun Lee, who is more experienced in the ring, and is well known in Australian Muaythai. Nick was down on the score cards after 2 rounds, with Jun landing some very heavy Southpaw Left-Kicks to his arms and body.

Nick, however, came out incredibly strong in the third round, displaying dominant ring control and composure. By keeping his opponent against the ropes, he landed a few beautiful punch to elbow combinations, the last of which resulted in a clean KO. We’re very excited to see what Nick can achieve in the ring next year!

Then, on Sunday, Kaelen, Scotty, and Josh all fought on Siam Cup – Josh was the main event for the day, fighting for the Siam Australian Junior Title.

Kaelen had his best fight to date; at only 8 years old he displayed a beautiful range of Muaythai, working hard in the clinch with strong knees. At the end, he lost the fight on points, but we’re all very happy with how well he fought, and he’s growing as fighter every time he steps in the ring.

Scotty came out incredibly strong for his first ever fight, landing a beautiful Jab-Head Kick combo only a minute into the first round. Credit to his opponent, who, despite being dropped by the kick and receiving an 8 count, came back strong and both boys fought hard to the end of three rounds. The final result was a Draw, but it was an impressive display of heart and sportsmanship for both men.

Lastly, Josh fought a hard, technical fight against an opponent he’s faced many times over the years. They’ve previously fought 3 times, and Josh had won all 3, but this time Kane came back strong to win a unanimous points decision. Josh was looking to finish the fight, but just couldn’t get the shot he needed to win. Having had over 30 fights at only age 14, Josh has got the experience to learn what he can from this fight and get right back to work on what is shaping up to be a very promising future in Muaythai.

All around, amazing effort by the whole team, trainers, fighters and supporters alike – another great weekend in the books for the #UrbanArmy.
