Urban Muaythai in Miami turned 10 this past Saturday! And Urban Muaythai Tweed just had its first birthday on January 21st.

What an incredible ten years it’s been… in 2010 Richie and Melissa quit their well-paying jobs in the mines to follow a passion in Muaythai, and 10 years on here we all are.

The Walsh’s opened the doors on January 18th; Richie focussed on training the fighters including Nathan “Carnage” Corbett for the remainder of his career, while Melissa was (and still is) the brains behind the operation.

Teamwork and Community were the beginning foundations of Urban, and they’re still strong in our family today. Over the years Urban has been home to hundreds of students, fighters, kids and even whole families, and now we can spread twice the love at our new Tweed location.

To celebrate, the #urbanarmy came and trained hard in Richie’s Saturday Morning Class with over 30 students, 5 trainers, and a bunch of spectators packed into the gym, even despite the torrential rain outside. Then we undid all our good work with Coffees and Cake as we watched a very cool video of members, past and present, wishing Urban a Happy Birthday.

We look forward to another fun 10 years; additional locations, new hopes, new challenges, new faces, new transformations. #Urbanarmy all the way.
